The next day after my birthday we got a very pleasant call from our friend.
Hey! I just arrived to our cabin,
you wanna come?
As we were supposed to travel to Southern Finland the upcoming week for a wedding, we decided why not? This way we didn’t need to drive the 800 kilometers straight, but had a chance to stay a night or two in the Central Finland in Kannonkoski.
My parents never had a cabin, not that I needed or longed for one when I was younger, but the older I get the more I am starting to appreciate the silence of nature, wood-heated sauna and lake to dip into. Though, I am not a big fan of fishing nor do I even go fishing with Arto as a company, I love to see how happy he becomes after spending an evening by the lake.
This cabin was lovely altogether, but probably the best part about being there was the company we had with Arto and the company Remu had! The friend of ours happens to be Remus breeder so Remu had his sisters and mother to play with. And as an exception to the usual, Remu got to be loose outdoors all day long, so you can imagine the happiness of the days we spent there.
Syntymäpäiväni jälkeisenä päivänä saimme Arton kanssa erittäin mukavan puhelun. “Heippa! Tulin just meidän mökille, haluutteko tulla tänne?“, ja mehän halusimme. Olimme joka tapauksessa matkaamassa etelään häihin ja Kannonkoskella pysähtyminen loisi mukavan paussin 800 kilometrin mittaiseen työntöön.
Minun vanhempani eivät koskaan omistaneet mökkiä. Heille riitti iso omakotitalo ja piha, miksi mennä merta kauemmas kalaan? Nuorempana en edes osannut kaivata mökkiä, iso talo Espoossa riitti kaupunkilaistytölle loistavasti, mutta mitä vanhemmaksi olen kasvanut sitä enemmän olen alkanut arvostaa luontoa, itse lämmitettyä puusaunaa ja järveä johon kastautua. Jopa kalastusta olen oppinut arvostamaan, ei sillä että itse lähtisin mukaan edes seuraksi, mutta rakastan nähdä Arton onnellisena kalastelun jälkeen.
Tämä mökki oli kaiken kaikkiaan aivan ihana, mutta luultavasti parasta pysähdyksessä oli kuitenkin ihana seura, niin meillä kuin Remullakin, ystävämme nimittäin sattuu olemaan Remun kasvattaja, eli Remu sai leikkiseurakseen äitinsä ja siskonsa. Kaiken lisäksi, poikkeuksena normaaliin, Remu sai juosta mökillä vapaana molempina päivinä, voitte siis kuvitella hänen onnensa!
